Will Credit Union help someone with bad credit get a loan easier in the long run?

bad credit loan
Im switching over to a credit union simply because my bank charges me excessivley when it comes to fees and overdrafts and how they process my purchases.

I know little about credit unions but just looking at there fees I know it’s a better option anyways.

The question is, is a credit union the way to go if I need to get a auto loan in 6 months, even with 400 for a credit score? How does it usually work, do I need a checking or a savings account to get this loan or do I have no chance with my score regardless of how long Im a cutomore? Thanks alot

You will probably need a savings account with a small fee (credit union membership). Typically, credit unions will be easier to get loans from, but with a credit score of 400, I’m not sure. You can always ask, and if you show significant improvement from now until then, your chances should be good.

400 is pretty low…a good way to build your credit score is to get the report, and pay off any old loans that may have defaulted. if that is not an option, you can get several collateral loans through your gredit union, after about 5 small loans are paid off, they will finance a small vehicle loan, and then build you up from there. for bad or no credit, the cu is the way to go.

I’ve belonged to a credit union for years. They gave a reasonable loan on a car after I had a bankruptcy. They treat you like a person and not a number. Most credit unions allow you to immediately apply for a loan after you have joined. Usually it’s $50 in a savings account and you’re in business.

A few times recently I had an overdraft, and both times it wasn’t my fault, and when I explained, they refunded me both times.

A credit union is great for people with “bad credit” but a bank is great for you once your credit is better.

Why not use both? They are both good for different reasons don’t get a hot head a end a good thing.

Anyway yes a credit union is the way to go for auto loans because they will pull weekly amounts of $25.00 for a monthly payment of $200.00.

Banks are more convenient, credit unions are more helpful.
    Good luck . . . .
